Female Film Festival Celebrates 10 Years of Funny Films
BROADS: women who throw a mean punch... LINE!
The Broad Humor Film Festival is back this year to tickle your funny bone with a weekend long romp of women-centric feature films, shorts and Screenplay Lab staged readings September 5 – 7 at the solar-powered visual and performing arts center, The Electric Lodge.
Named one of the 5 "coolest" women's film festivals in the world by Moviemaker Magazine this past year (and, they’re right!) the 2014 festival has been greenlit by a successfully run Kickstarter campaign. Tickets go on sale in September through Eventbrite. Past screenings have included female-made comedies from all over the world, and this year’s line up is as (potentially) broadly international as prior years.
The fest mission is to provide a fun-filled three days of films by women directors and writers. Unique among film festivals, Broad Humor manages to serve up laughs from a female perspective, build community with lively discussions and events, and showcase voices we don’t usually hear. Men are welcome too!
Want to volunteer or be a co-sponsor? Help support filmmakers and chill with a great bunch of gals, while laughing a lot. Students interested in internships in design, public relations, arts management, film making, or any other field of study that supports the fest’s mission can also get credit for their contributions working with the festival. Email the fest at firstname.lastname@example.org for more info.
Films run Friday through Sunday. Panels and screenplay readings round out the weekend. Parking is available on premises. More details at the festival website: broadhumor.com.
